A widow

by Sarmishtha De
(Silchar, Assam , India)

White saree,
knot has opened up,
Loose end fanning its fang-
Is now free.

I see in mirror-
A face of you,
And beside you is blank me,
Staring back as white as my saree.

Colorless me-
Blinded by color sketched memory.
I see us walking down the sidewalk,
And now I’m frozen on other side of the wall.

Without you-
A dream I dared to dream.
A thought-
Everyday I fought with.

Days passed ; years gone,
Kids have grown ,
The reminiscence are still young-
And vivid.

I stand alone in shards as-
A wife,
A mother,
A widow.

Woes of a widow
by: Parimala Rao

In this modern world the widow should restart her life and never crush her dreams and suffer. The past practices should disappear .
