CHIMERA

by Nithya Mariam John
(Kottayam, Kerala, India)

It is quite a state
when Life is at war with you.
Illusions, masks, fantasies
Chimera
All echo the meaningless ambitions of
short lived memories.

You find your friend
grope the gyre;
the ruling dynasty
wields the sword.

Painted against the blue sky,
the crow looks like
blackened grass
lion, goat and snake
competing with desire.
