In Solitude
by Maria Isabel Cecilia Pascual
(Manila, Philippines)
I sit here alone to have a glimpse of those tiny flower
That grew on the ledge of this rocky hillside
So precariously placed
Yet so vibrant in colour and alive.
I sit here alone on a slope of a hill
Waiting for the dusky clouds to reappear
Hoping that it will obscure
The sombre look in my eyes
I have accepted my fate
And my heart is at peace
It doesn't thump as loud
Nor does it feel pain at all
No, I do not wish to feel
I'd just like to sit here in silence
Feel the soothing breeze
As it comes and goes
Life is never constant
Like clockwork it does stop
Let time stood still
To at last rest in a muted state
No words needed at all
No remorse of any kind
Just silent sighs of relief
To say goodbye finally...
