Rasaleela

by Nuggehalli Pankaja
(Bangalore, Karnataka, India)

Hark, is it not our Krishna’s flutlet?
Is it not the magic wand- Oh Radha,
Whence flows the nectar limpid,
Glances cupid,
Enticing old and young?

See,your legs are also dancing,
I know how you are longing,
To rush out and play with Krishna,
Be one with Rasaleela.
By the lush I stood.
Watching you both-oh Radha!
The moonlight streaming down,
And the river rippling low.

Krishna’s hair curly,
And your plait long,
Fought and laughed,
As you both swayed and swayed
Circled and circled
In abandonment ecstatic………..

While the jar of water Yamuna
It noiseless dropped,
And I too began to dance
In joy sublime
To the tune of Krishna’s flutlet sweet,
Oh Radha!
