Sands of Time

by Maria Isabel Cecilia Pascual
(Manila, Philippines)

(Sahara caged within an hourglass...)

~~~
It mirrors what I'm feeling inside,
New ideas that became old and stale.
Luminous spirits that lives within,
Yet not able to shine at all.
Blessed with a heart so generous,
Yet not able to love truly.
Blessed with gentle hands that could mold and create,
Yet not able to reach out and feel.
Blessed with nimble feet yet not able to flee,
Chained down with life's responsibilities.
Blessed with the sweetest of voice,
Yet not able to utter a single word or a note.
Wings of dreams so magnificent,
Yet not able to ride the wind...
Nor the chance to take-off or fly at all.
Pair of eyes that could see far and beyond,
Yet could not stare much longer,
To find out the many colours of the rainbow...
So many constraints in order to live and exist...
To give up something so dear to us
In order to gain flimsy things,
That our society deemed important and of value.
Most would call it many facets of life's injustices
But some would say...
It's a choice; a sacrifice?
I wish I have all the answers; but I don't.
I have only one thing in mind...
"This is life's bitter-sweet reality!"
End
Life is still interesting!
by: Tanuja Chatterjee
Had the kite not faced an opposing wind could it fly? Had the earth's toiling not ended could the dawn be glorious? Had there been no winter could there be any spring? When we look back to this life devoid of all challenges is there any joy? Our "NOWS" are full of deep penetrating pains, so what! With a soaring spirit sing along with me...
"I'm as if in winter
But winter...!
Always turns
Into spring
____________
Yes my dearest Ja, I will sing along with you and fly like a kite minus the string... to roam the vast skies freely and happily! Thanks for always being there...
much ♥,
isabel
A touching account of one's helplessness and inability to reach out.Keep it up,Isabel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There's a stage in our existence that we feel powerless and inept despite reaching the top/ pannacle...so all these feelings can be compared to the Grand Sahara caged within an hourglass, so great and formidable yet can be helpless and vulnerable. Reminding us that no one is untouchable or indestructible, we are all under the mercy of mother nature, fate and those who rules the heaven.

My sincere thanks Vimala for your untiring encouragement and support.

Humbly yours,
isabel
