The Maine Review Rocky Coast Contest

The Maine Review is a new literary magazine featuring creative nonfiction, poetry, short fiction, essays, and prose. Each cover is graced by the work of a Maine artist. Contest is open to all published and unpublished writers, and all submissions are considered for publication in the Fall 2014 issue. Maximum length of 1,500 words, 60 lines for poetry. Deadline September 15, 2014. First prize $150, second prize $50. All genres eligible for prizes.

2. Magic Oxygen Literary Competition

Deadline November 30, 2014. First Prize - £1,000. Second Prize - £300. Third Prize - £100. Two Highly Commended - £50. In addition, we will be planting a tree in Kenya for each entry, so every entrant is a winner! When the contest closes we will email the GPS co-ordinates of your tree to you. Short Stories up to 4,000 words, excluding title. Poetry up to 50 lines, excluding title and lines between stanzas. The theme is open.

3. Siskiyou prize for new Environmental Literature

The Siskiyou Prize is open to unpublished, full-length prose manuscripts with environmental themes, including novels, memoirs, short story collections, and essay collections. Manuscripts should be approximately 40,000 to 90,000 words (i.e., please do not send novellas or individual essays or stories; please also note the contest is not open to poetry or children's books). Deadline September 30, 2014.
