Among the Crowd

by Sneha Subramanian Kanta
(Mumbai, India)

Blooming alone

Blooming alone

Among the crowd
I walk on the lonely street;
A Flutter of people pass by me
Unnoticed goes the half-naked child
Sitting on the edge of the road
And looking at the sky

He probably is sure that the heavens
are hearing his cry
He seems starved and frail
But people still walk by

Each one without a smile
Like undistinguished smoke that flies out
of the chimney - - in that mill

People walk on and I--
remained stranded here
The small boy seems to have caught my sight
for reasons more than a few

But I have to walk;
I have to go on
There is no space for
Solitary Loners.

A BEAUTIFUL POEM
by: Geetashree Chatterjee

The solitary loner startled by the naked child brings back a plethora of visuals...Very well written, indeed!

A simple poem

Hi Sneha,

You've brought out the unnoticed scenes on our way in simple words which really remind people to think for a moment, in this busy world! Thanks for reminding us through your beautiful poem.

A HEART FELT POEM
by: Tanuja chatterjee

I loved the poem. The insensitivity lurking within our hearts is effortlessly put in simple words. The routine and rat race ...and our hearts of steel...Liked the solitary bloom also.

Thank You
by: Sneha

Thank you so much for all your comments.

Thanks dearest Mohit. Always a pleasure to read your feedback

Isabel, I'm glad to have feedback from you. You're correct, people have lost the nerve it takes to be humane. Man's estrangement with the man made world.

Vimala, why single out Mumbai? Its increasingly happening everywhere. Thank you so much for your valuable words.

the reality...
by: isabel

Gone are the days when people walked with their hearts on their sleeves.

Now they all walk like a harnessed horse, eyes partially covered and only keen to strut forward unmindful of anything around them.

Sad Truth
by:

True, we had become so mechanical in our daily lives that we don't notice things which are around "US".
