2. Editor's Note

a) I apologise for the delay in bringing out this newsletter and publishing the contributions on time. As mentioned on the Notice Board I was unwell and hospitalized for a while, and now I'm slowly returning to work.

b) As you know, Rain fury continues in Karnataka, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra and Gujarat claiming several lives and making many homeless and orphans. Lakhs of people have been evacuated from flood-hit regions to safer areas. Lets pray for a minute for them. Any small help will be a great help for them at this hour of need.

c)The theme for the month of August 2019 - Short Stories - There is no specific theme this month. Any good story will be considered.

Your contributions can be submitted in the SUBMISSION FORM to all categories from 15th to 25th of each month.

b) We have 10 new writers who joined IWW community recently, and they are - Caroline Kavitha David, Akkera NR, Anupama Mishra, Rakshita Banswal Tikoo, Krishnasree Dayanidhi, Manoj Nair, Tapaswini Harichandan, Shubham Netam, Dellnaz Italia and Anam Usmani. There were more stories and poems from new writers, but I could not accept them for not following our simple rules.

a) Masters Review Summer Short Story Award - https://mastersreview.com/short-story-award-for-new-writers/
It is for new writers who have not published a novel or collection with a circulation over 5000 copies. First prize is US$3000. publication on The Masters Review site, and review from multiple agencies. The second and third place stories receive $300 and $200, respectively, publication, and agency review. The entry fee is $20. The closing deadline is 31 August.

b) Manchester Fiction Prize -https://www2.mmu.ac.uk/writingcompetition/
It is a major international literary competition open to anyone aged 16 or over. The winner receives a cash prize of £10,000 (US$11,500). Stories can be up to 2500 words in length. The entry fee is £17.50. Entries close on 20 September.

c) Zoetrope All-Story’s Annual Fiction Contest-https://www.zoetrope.com/contests/stories-2019/
It has the aim of seeking out and encouraging talented writers, with the winning and runners-up’s work being forwarded to leading literary agents. A first prize of US$1000 is also offered. Entries close on 1 October.========================================================== Special SiteSell
