A Stranger Are You Now?

by Maria Isabel Cecilia Pascual
(Manila, Philippines)

Yes, it's you...

I think of as I rise and see the morning sun

Seeping through this curtain I made not so long ago

Thoughts of you fills my mind

As my fingers deftly feel the soft satin threads

Like the many colours of the rainbow

Vibrant and alive!

~~~~
Canvas of lush greens and daisies
You lovingly adorn my hair
Caressing each strands
As it falls softly on my cheeks
Butterfly smiles painted on my lips
My heart in your hands.
~~~~

Yours forever in realm and dreams

Yet when I opened my eyes not a minute ago

Your hand outstretched I could not reach

Your voice so soft, so sweet

Yet I could not hear

Your face I could not recognize.

~~~~
A stranger are you now?
Like a faded photograph
Brown and brittle with age
Like a worn out hat
That should be hung and forgotten?
~~~~

So set me free

And let me be

If you would please

Our years have passed

So long long ago

Let it be goodbye this time

No more goodnight dear

Just...Goodbye.

A very sweet poem Isabel where I could actually feel the texture of the word pictures.
