It's a New Year

by Ritu Sama
(Bengaluru, India)

I have been walking...

For years now
Not tired
Neither bored
Not that interested
Nor engrossed
Just feeling my feet...

They have taken me far
Still the horizon is hazy
I follow the wind
Wrapping the yesteryears in my pockets
Presents for my future

Approaching the unknown
Not intimidating
Neither enchanting
Just feeling the life as lived by

I joined many
Some joined me
There was a crowd sometimes
And sometimes a lone revelry

Its been a beautiful wait
Anxious for the next morning
When the year will be new
May not be the dreams
Nor may be the promises
Leaving behind what it needs to leave
Embracing yet - the same old me...

How eloquently you have described a mundane moment. Really liked it, Ritu. Hope you add many more such poetic thoughts this year!! Happy new year again:-)

How beautiful!
by: Your Name: Pallavi

Embracing again, the same old me...so beautifully expressed. This is quite a piece, Ritu Sama. Would like to come back to it again and again. And thankfully, it's not in Urdu, beautiful but half of it I wouldn't understand! :D
