Thank You for Making a Difference

A person who teaches you to be a better version of yourself is a teacher in true sense….. My thoughts go back to the time when I joined a reputed school in Kolkata.

I remember the gentle hand on my shoulder on my first day in school when I was asked to introduce myself to the class, the reassuring smile when I was walking up to the mike to say the prayer during assembly, the star in my notebook saying that my handwriting had improved when it was just as illegible as ever. It sure motivated me to take care of how I write.

The personal touch, the warm and friendly words of encouragement, imparting values and knowledge to children, being a friend, a confidante, a role model, a guiding light are one of the few roles that teachers play in our life. They hold our hands with a motherly touch, guiding us towards a strong value system and help children to shape their personality.

Life is a learning process and our teachers are the angels who are with us throughout and leave their impact on us which are etched in our memories forever. From kindergarten to the last day of college, they paint the canvas of our lives, teach us to differentiate between right and wrong which helps us to face all the challenges of the world outside when we leave the cocoon of our homes.

Someone has very rightly said “Mothers are our first teachers and teachers are our second mothers". So on the occasion of Teacher’s Day (5th September) let’s pay our respect to all our mentors who have enlightened us and groomed us into good human beings and achievers.
