The Rainy Street

by Sneha Subramanian Kanta
(Mumbai, Maharashtra, India)

Memories and Vacant streets after rain...

Memories and Vacant streets after rain...

Lush green grass at the end of the road
is visible from the window I see
the lonely raindrops gather at the
pane of my window
as to assemble
and form a melancholic
nothingness
on the vacant couch I lie on

the streets invite me into the
heavy stupor
closely associating itself with the
place I sit

perhaps the sublime time
doesn’t cease to move across
the window pane
it is stagnant there
like life lived by
you and I

THE RAINY STREET

Poignant lines. Strong imager. Capable of making the reader unusually wistful.

The rainy street

Brings out the dreariness of a rainy day very well. Obviously it is not a happy one day rain.It sounds like one day in the long monsoon of Mumbai.
Well done,Sneha.

Very nostalgic

The poem brings out regrets, sorrows, remembered passions rather beautifully. Good work!
