Unopened Bottle

by Isabel Cecilia Pascual
(Manila,Philippines)

In a darken days like this

When frost eternally adheres

On the withered leaves of

The season past; now gone

I yearn to reach for that

Unopened bottle covered with

Years of cobwebs to keep me

Company while I listlessly

Rock back and forth on this

Crooked wooden chair

I am now chained.

For Sneha...thank you so much !
by: Isabel

Dear Sneha,
Sitting here under the shade of a giant tree and thinking of home where golden mango fruits hanging abundantly on its branch ready for picking. Just wondering what would be my life and fate if I stayed home... Just curious and I think it'll be neat to have a magical looking glass to find out. I guess when one has plenty of time to spare it's nice to just sit, muse and daydream :)

Para Geeta...
by: isabel

This brings out so many visuals....
by: Geetashree Chatter

Old age, inertia, tied to the past, apathy - so many pictures together and above all the pain of isolation and loneliness!

=======

Thank you Geeta, indeed that unopened bottle signifies q thing... What could have been and what might have been.

You are a marvel
by: Tanuja

I felt that though we all cherish hopes for the future but to pause for a moment to cherish the memories of all the battles lost and won in our majestic past, actually summons forth a fresh wave of energy to soar high and advance confidently into that unknown unseen frontier.

Superb
by: Sneha

You know what Isabel, your poem reminded me of my ever favourate elegy by W.B. Yeats 'When you are old and gray'. Look it up the internet.
I don't think I could say more than this...superbly enchanting verse!
