Who Won?

by Swati Sanguri
(Ghaziabad, India)

The day he met death...it was smiling
He asked what is it that makes you happy
It said the fact that you think you are the master...
When I am the ruler of all...
My blanket is black which looks like so radiant to you...
Ha-ha it has no other color...you human!
And you bring out a rainbow of colors out of your senseless life...
When in the end, it will be my spear and your head...
Don’t you understand, my peasant...you are nothing when I am here...
You own nothing… rather I own you...
Ha-ha said the human...He was rolling on the road
Such hearty laughter...he put out a finger and pointed at death...
We live a life of colors...we know you are the end…
But know we are the beginning...a birth of new lives and hopes
We fill our lives with sparkles and joys of the moment,
We embrace life while we remember the death...
Our lives are sweet and sour...and full of endeavors...
We sweat...we work...we love...we dance...
Where is the battle, my teaser...?
We have never looked at you as a tormentor
We welcome you when the time comes...
As we have lived our lives with fullness...
Do you see it now?
Tell me...you death...when was the last time you lived
Tell me...my baiter...who won in the end?...
