A lonely walk, on a Rainy day

by Gitanjali Maria
(Kochi, Kerala, India)

I walked down the road,
Big drops splattering hard on my back,
The rain lashed ferociously,
I moved on, hunched up but determined
Alone on the wet road

The icy cold biting into me,
The misty fog clouding my vision
I walked on,
bogged down by the weariness of life,
seeking consolation & answers.

I do not want help
Nor do I seek protection,
Past mistakes rise like ghosts in my dreams,
robbing me of the peace of the night and the day.

Curious eyes peered from the windows,
on the lone figure out in the downpour
But little did they know,
that I walked seeking answers to life.

In the midst of loneliness,
In the chill of cold water drops,
I sought solace from the wrongs of past
And answers to innocent questions of life and living.

Loved your poem. We all learn from our mistakes....I do. Whenever I look back I'm never ashamed of my actions, rather feel quite proud, 'coz they enabled me to do my own Human Revolution and forged my character. Keep igniting great passion through your profound words. Thanx.

I like the innocence of the poem. I am intrigued by the imagery. Well written.
