Darkness and Light

by Sneha Subramanian Kanta
(Mumbai, Maharashtra, India)

The light from the lantern
filling my
entire room

almost seems like a flood
of brightness that
just stopped by my door

for it has been vacant ever since
you stopped visiting
me

oft when i stand alone-
desolate
at the window pane

one shadow i always see
that of clouds
shaping themselves on the tinted glass

and that has been a company for
quite sometime now;
until

the torrent of the lantern
came along and
stopped disillusioning me

As usual, a poem full of imagery. Beautiful.
