Mother Bird

by Gayathri Devi Dutt
(Bengaluru, Karnataka, India)

Sprung like a bird
from the cabin
of Patriarchy

Partnered
at arm's length
Bound to no God

The rubric of bravery
horned a nest
in the rockery

Sanctuary fostered
Prism glazed
gate crashed

Trespassed a jungle
trapped in evergreen trees
fossilised bill board placards

Fleeting the wings
hooked on to the branches
the territorial treasure

Windmill sighted
other end of the spectrum
bagged the nature's buffet

Feed built
beaks, bones and wings
unfurled horizons

Foraged the light house
scatter and larder hoarding
following the Sun's whisper

Air pipe punctured
whisked to
unchartered territory
stamped invisibility!
