I Tried to Find Love
by Diksha Singh Sengar
(Ujjain, India)
I searched for love in eyes and flame,
In whispered night and silken name.
I offered all — my soul laid bare,
But found no heart that chose to care.
I stitched my hopes on morning's thread,
But silence answered me instead.
Each touch I thought was true and kind,
Left scars far deeper than the mind.
I tried to bloom in garden's shade,
But thorns were all the hands I made.
They took my warmth, they wore my grace,
Then vanished — not a single trace.
Like Hester, marked in crimson shame,
I bore my truth, endured the blame.
Yet love — that gentle, fleeing dove —
Would never nest where I called love.
Still here I stand, with quiet ache,
A heart once whole, now split, opaque.
And though love’s hand I couldn’t keep,
I plant my dreams where sorrows sleep.
